 I’m new at this

Ok I just bought a bearded dragon and it is a baby. I am still kinda of in the dark on how to feed them. Do I feed them crickets every day and veggies once a day? Also I got some meal worms (already dead) and I was wondering if I feed it meal worms do I still feed it crickets? I understand on how often to feed them but how much crickets, meal worms, or veggies do I feed them a day? Also the basking area of my tank gets to about 100 degrees and the cool side gets to about 80-85 depending on house temp. It that good enough or do I need to fix the temperatures? Sorry so many questions but I really wanna be a good parent for my dragon because I bought an iguana once and it didn’t last long and I really don’t want that to happen again.
Thanks Brandy

well dead foods are not good for them. you need to feed live crickets. it will be ike 20-80 crickets a day...very expensive...like 20$ a week. so it shoud have vegies offered every day. an adult bearded dragon will need a 40 breeder tank. i think that...umm 36 by 18 by 16

"Baby Dragons

Baby-bearded dragons (hatchlings) should be fed crickets two to three times a day. They should eat a large number in each feeding, but every dragon is different. Feed them as much as they will eat within 10 minutes.

Also, crickets should be dusted once daily with calcium and vitamin supplements. You can also offer leafy greens daily, though your baby is going to eat mostly crickets at this time.

Crickets will be the staple insect for hatchlings. It is very important that the crickets you feed are the right size. Crickets that are to big will still be eaten but can cause impactions and also paralysis.

The crickets should be one third the size of the hatchling’s head or smaller than the distance between their eyes. Mealworms are not recommended at this time, because of their hard chitinous shell."

These are my new beardies. I thought I should show them and let you see what they look like. The darer one is Puff the Magic Dragon and the lighter one is Dora the Explorer. They are both females and are so fun to watch. Thanks so much for the advice. I really appreciate it.

I would’ve posted this in the bearded dragon forums.........

often young beardies don’t eat their greens. You’ll need to keep offering good greens like collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, bok choy, etc. Fruit is only for an occasional treat. So I wouldn’t worry about that. So just be sure and keep offering the greens and trying to get them to eat....they’ll probably get used to them after a while and start eating them normally when they’re older. Also if you’re housing them together you’re going to want to separate them. Mealworms are a big no no since they have too much chitin content, no nutritional value, etc etc. Stick to crickets, silkworms, superworms (for when they’re big enough), and the occasional waxworm. Please post a new thread in the BD forum and ask a few questions there as I know that most of the bd people don’t come to this forum like I do.

Wish you luck! They’re really cute!
