 New lizard Poll.

Hi all. I’m thinking about getting new lizards, and I wanted to see how many people on here had opinions of what to get. Here is all the information I have to offer.

Cage- 35" W x 20" L x 48" T
20 gallons floor area, 132 gallons total

UVA/UVB lights, Heat light sources, bubbler, climbing branches etc.

Temperature rarely goes above 80° in the winter. Live plants. Good humidity retension, never drops below 50%.

Currenty contains 2 Mountain Horned Dragon (Acanthosaura Capra) males.

So what do you guys think? Here’s all I’ve come up with so far-

Water dragons (Physignathus Sp.)
Green Iguana
Gonocephalus Sp.?
Certain Chameleons
And that’s it. My brain feels like it’s on standby.

What do you guys think? What options do you have in mind?

An iguana will only fit in that tank for a VERY short time. Chameleons need all screen enclosures (reptariums). I don’t know about the rest of them. You could get an African fat tailed gecko. They like high humidity (over 50%). You can put them on eco earth to keep the humidity up.

I dont know if this is any of my business, but if that tank already contains two Capra’s why are you trying to find another lizard to put in it? What are you planning on doing with those current inhabitants?

Just Wondering.

green iguanas are way too big for that tank and glass tanks are not recommended for Chinese water dragons because they have a tendency to rub their nose raw on the glass but otherwise that’s a good choice. chameleons are the most expensive and are the hardest to care for. i would look at Cuban knight anoles they get to about 2feet long and would fit well in that tank but are pretty damn mean and most are wild caught. or Australian water dragons that basically look like a big green bearded dragon on steroids and have about the same care as a Chinese water dragon.

Are you trying to fit more lizards in with the Horned Dragons? Or are they moving to a new enclosure and you want to put something in their current cage?

Currently trying to find a good home for the MHD’s. I wanted to breed them, but ended up with two males, and I came to the conclusion that even if I were to get a female, my home isn’t the right place to try and keep temperatures stable in an incubator for over 190 days.

The enclosure is wood, with a plexiglass door front. So nose rub is less of an issue.

I’m wanting to sell them, and I live in southwest Michigan. I have a brother in Northwestern Ohio who may be able to bring them there on a Sunday for pickup, but he cannot keep reptiles at his apartment.

Anyone have any experience with Basilisks? I’m looking into them right now too.
