Is he smooth or rough skinned? If smooth, he looks like a collared lizard. If not, I believe it would be spiny or crevice lizards. It looks most like a collared lizard to me though :)

If its belly is blue then its a fence lizard
but I dont think you should have it on gravel
but its a cute little baby

Definately NOT a collared lizard. I’ve had four of them so I know. It looks like a breed of Spiny lizards (Sceloporus). There are desert lizards so the gravel, as long as it’s too big to swallow, I don’t see as a problem. Many people will disagree with me, but think about it, what do they live on in the wild- rocks, sand, dirt, I meant desert South west of the US isn’t green and fluffy. Just because it has a blue belly doesn’t make it a Fence lizard either, most of the Sceloporus species, if MALE have bright blue bellies. There are several species that he could be, most if not all stay small, under a foot in total. I would suggest using either Yahoo or Google to look up the Spiny Lizards and look for one that matches the best, it might be a juvie still and make it a little harder to tell. Hope that helps.

just because it bites doesn’t mean it’s evil :) it just means that you are bigger than he is and he is still scared of you and the only way he knows to show it is biting, in hopes you let go.
