OT - Cricket Egg-Laying? Ive been trying to breed my crickets for a while...and i added a new "batch" to my previous crickets....i look in the aquarium to see about 6 females either digging for sticking their oviposter (sp?) is this an indication they are laying eggs? I know they are chirping up a storm in there.

OT - Cricket Egg-Laying? yeah. definitely laying eggs. the females have a stick-like appendage that they stick into the ground when laying. but only the males chirp.
is that canadian soil? it looks like the kind i scoop up for my worms in toronto...
lol

OT - Cricket Egg-Laying? Yes it looks like they are laying eggs. I used to breed crickets but stopped because it took about a month for the eggs to hatch, then you have to wait another 6 weeks or so until the crix are big enough to feed off. Just some advice i would recommend seperating the eggs from the adults because they will eat them. Also it seems to help when transfering them to use some kind of screen to seperate the big lumps of dirt.
