Well do you want something that is low maintence an inexspensive or do you want something that reguires more attention and will cost a lot? A leopard gecko or crested gecko are both low maintence and inexspensive and are very entertaing. If you want something that is more personable and difficult a bearded dragon is great.

when you decide what type of lizard you will get, make sure you do lots of research too. Read lots of care sheets and articles and read a couple good books about the species.

How big of a cage are you willing to buy for it? Do you have a reptile vet for yearly checkups?

If you’re getting a 10 gallon tank, how about a Viper Gecko? I have two of them and they are very sweet and easy to take care of. Here’s a photo of them...they’re about 4 months old

for a ten gallon, your options are limited. Easy to care for lizards would be leopard geckos, pictus geckos, viper geckos, curly tailed lizards (although a 15 gallon is better), um there are a few more but i cant remember them off the top of my head.

Vet checkups usually cost between 20-50$.

For feeding, feed as many food items as the lizard will eat in an hour or so. Feed every day. And feed a variety of food items.

if you only have 100 bucks, look into something other than a reptile for now. Lizards can be extremely expensive. There’s the 50 to 60 dollar vet trip (that’s with the fecal test included), the 10 dollar thermometer/humidometer, the food expenses, the tank condition expenses (2 to 3 hides, one of htem a moist hide, substrate (no sand or dirt for a leo... Instead use papertowel, repticarpet, tile, or shelfliner), the lighting (which you said you already have, do you have the right wattage bulb, though?), the vitamins and calcium you need to dust the food with, the water dish... I know I’m forgetting something.

Then there’s the 30 to 60 dollar leo... Which is what I’d recommend for a 10 gallon tank. One leopard gecko.

A bearded dragon is a beginner lizard but takes WAY more than 100 bucks to pay for everything. Sides that, you can’t fit an adult beardie in a 20 gallon tank.. They get Huge. A leo + tank + stuff in tank + vet visit would cost you over 120 bucks total. And you can’t skimp out on stuff.. the tank needs to be set up an entire week before you get the lizard so it doesn’t stress out.

On another note, quarenteen the new reptile a room away from your other ones to keep from transmitting parasites or deseases.. quarenteening should be upwards of 1 to 3 months or more.

Like I said, if you only have so much cash, just use it for the future of your one snake, not another lizard. Only when you KNOW you’ve got about 200 to 300 some extra dollars to spare should you consider getting yourself another lizard.

Breeder, did you stumble onto that album site, or did you find it in my profile? Just curious...Thanks, I’m glad you think they’re cute. They’re so docile, and Frenchie is a chow hound!!

Breeder, My most favorite movie is Grease. I adore Olivia Newton-John...That’s where I got the name. My dog’s name is Sandy. I want to change the Vipers’ names, though. Funny you should ask about their names. I’d like something different..I was looking at a list of names I found on the Leo forum. I have wittled the list down to these..
Stitch
Topsy
Turvey
Annox
Fenix
Nuka
I’m still getting to know them, I may wait and see how their personalities progress.

That’s sooo cool that you’re getting six of them. Are you going to breed them? I’m really enjoying mine..they’re absolutely lovely!! Let me know how you like them...or have you had them before??
