There aren’t many big lizards that are docile. Fact, the only remotely docile big lizard I’ve known is the beardie. Usually the bigger the lizard is the more territorial, aggresive, and meaner they are. That and they will give you bites that will require stitches. People like Tegus. But even then the tegu would have to be held Constantly and would still get bouts of aggression and territory issues against you.

The reason people like some lizards more than others is because they’re easier to care for and harder to kill. That and the rarer the lizard you want, the more endangered the lizard may become in the wild (because the rarer the lizards that people want, the more the rare lizards will be exported from the wild).

For now I say either look into another Beardie or even a snake if you want a big reptile. Snakes rule all. Or open your goals to even the smaller lizards then keep a few of one species in the same viv, depending on territorial grounds each specific lizard will cover. Also the whole male kill male ratio, male overbreed female, and big eat small ratio.

Frilled Dragons are decently sized, not that common, and are pretty docile. They are a bit jumpy when they are young but they mellow out when the get older.
