What was your first lizard and how old were you? 
I was curious to what type of lizard and at what age were you introduced to lizards, and maybe a little story behind it. Maybe help to get us to know one another better.PE

i was 10 and i am 11 now. my teacher gave me one and it’s name is kailey. she is still alive to this day and she is still very active untill mating season. she will make a very lound, annoying, and very weird noise so, that tells me that she wants to mate and when she mates she gets very madd at me like she wish i ever let her mate but, she is very happy with her 2 babies and soon to be more babies! but, the sadd thing is that at least 1 dies and i have to give at least 2 or maybe 3 away.

I was about 7 or 8 years old. I lived in northwest washington at the
time, but we went to visit some relatives in southeast texas & there
i caught 6 green anoles & snuck them back up(we flew). I kept them for 3 or 4 years & during that time they had some tankmates(a red-legged frog & some baby garter snakes).Then we moved back to texas
a year later i let them go.

What was your first lizard and how old were you?
When I was 6 years old I got an emerald swift. I named her Gydget. I had her for around 7 years until she died.  But I have loved reptiles and amphibians since I was just a baby and before the lizard there were snakes, toads, frogs, turtles, and salamanders.

I’m guessing I was around 6. Whoa, that was 35 years ago, I am getting old. lol We caght all kinds of things but I loved the Okinawan Tree Lizards. We called them monkey lizards, don’t remember why, we just did.
My parents couldn’t figure out where all the fruits and veggies were going to until they found my stash of (according to my dad)over 30 lizards living ib my closet. I also caught gekos to keep the bugs down.

I was 12. I first had two RES’s. I put a crawdad in with them . He keeps it clean!!!!. Put 3 gambusia, sometimes called minnows from my creek with them . They eat the floating stuff. I caught 3 anoles, 1 male adult, 1 Female adult, 1 male juvenile. 13 now. Went to Wet Pets and Critters in Longview Texas and fixed those lizards up. They’re almost fully tame now and have no diseases. Saved 2 american toads from my dog. Put them w/ my anoles there happy. Caught 2 mediterranean house geckos. Got them there own cage. (The anoles would get all the food first when I put them with the anoles.) The geckos were actually released into the environment by my science teacher. He released 15 5 years ago. Now there are probably 500. Baby sitting my science teachers 2 leos. I got a full house.

today june 4th im 11 my birthday is on june 5th a little eary a day earlyer the are 2 green anoles i dont know the names yet but they are cool i also have a frog 3 turtles 2 fish tanks 5,and a 45, gallon 2 hermit crabs 1 tadpole, 1 clam 1 shrimp and 1 venes fly traps

I was like 6 I think, my grandpa was cleaning out the garage and I had always had all those fake plastic lizards, and he saw what he thought was one, in a bucket. he was about to toss the bucket to the side, when the lizard inside moved. It was a Texas Alligator Lizard, I had it for about 4 years before I let it go...there are still many of them running around my yard!

i was for an i lived in san diego there was an iguana and his owner let me visit him until he moved away that where my love of igs came from and he was the sweetest little monster in the world (that i knew)

i got my fist geckos when i was 5 (crocodile geckos) from my freinds brother who breeds them i got them a week old and now im 11 and mine had 1 egg whitch hached 2 days ago

My first lizards were 2 anoles i kept them for three months let them go i was 10 the next year i got a bearded dragon im 12 now.(I had many different types of lizards before the anoles just cant remember the first kind and how old i was)

What was your first lizard and how old were you?
I had a big tank with a few house geckos and a few green anoles, i was probably 7, probably too young, we had escapees all the time, caught most of them, and the rest died around the house, where i’d find them months or years later. I think i got bored with those, and my mom didn’t want to take me to the petstore to buy crickets all the time, so i only had them for a couple years maybe. Now i’m 17, a bit more responsible, and i have a Bibron gecko, skunk gecko, and a savanna monitor, plus the 6 other animals around the house. fun times.

i am 13 right now and i have one green anole. my mom and dad hate reptiles but i love them. i don’t even know why my mom let me get it. but i did a lot of research before i got one. i have a plexi-glass cage with a light for the day time , and a heat light on 24/7.

I dont have a lizard. But I have a snake. I was introduced to snakes ever since I can remember. My parents had 2 RTBs. Then at 10 I got Mosi, then at 11 I got IVey, and then gave Ivey away. Now at 11 I have Mosi the Redtail Boa and Cupid the Ball python (and a bunch of mammals....I dont have a story sorry.

when I was 12 I caught a 5 foot Iguana, kept it for a few weeks but it was big and wasn’t too tame, so I released it back into the wild (I still see it every now and then around where I caught it)...I’ve had house gecko’s and brown anoles before, always ended up letting them gothen about 3 months ago (I’m 18 now) I caught a Knight Anole, a male about 20 inches long, again because I caught it as an adult it wasn’t the best thing to try and tame, plus it wouldn’t eat since it was taken out of its habitat so I released it after maybe 3-4 days of it not eating rather then risk its personal health for my pleasure. then about 2 weeks ago I caught a baby Knight anole on my friends car (thats why its named Lexus) and went out that day and bought it a cage and branches and a den and plants and stuff, its been living happy as can be since then with plenty of crickets to eat, but the cage is so big for the little guy that hold him (he isn’t tame yet, he’ll still bite me and try to get away) and feed him the crickets.

I was 8 when I got my first reptile, Geico, the golden gecko, after I got him, me and my brother shared like 6 anoles, then I got Godzilla, another golden gecko, then all the anoles died/ were given away by my mom(GRR....).
My goldens are still alive and well, and now I have two spotted turtles!-collin

I was 8, my 1st lizard was a fan footed gecko named Rocko. He lived for 3 1/2 years which is about their average life span.And collin, I looked at dymondboys profile and he lives in Florida. In southern florida there are numerous wild iguanas, tons of em’.

Yes they are they were introduced. Also there are tokay geckos, house geckos, frilled dragons, and there was burmese pythons in the everglades but the rangers had to kill all of them because they were breeding like crazy. Someone let them go in the everglades, idiots.

frilled dragons yah. They are found in one spot in florida. A guy on kingsnake caught 12 in 1 hour. He wouldn’t give the location because it is like a farm breeding thing so it was technicaly illegal.

oh, and the temps were warm enough for them to survive.....I get it now, some people released them in florida, it was warm enough for them to survive there, the bred, the population grew and then they were all killed. I really wish they could of relocated them into there naturall habitat rather than kill them...

My first lizard expirence was with my sicence teacher in 7th grade... he let me take home the class anole.. it was the biggest anole I have ever seen in my life to this very day.. I loved that little thing and I thought since I took such good care of it my dad would let me have my own lizard.. NO WAY.. so now I’m 23 years old and married... So I gets what I wants! ;) I have one rescued ig, one rescued gold tegu, one rescued golden greek, one NOT rescued baby mali and JUST accquired a juv yellow foot... and my husband has a ball python.

Basically I just love animals! I always begged for an iguana and my dad is terrified of snakes and a lizard was just too close to that! I’m glad now after owning an iguana they didn’t let me get one. I actually had everything set up once and could get one but I decided against it. My mom would catch small lizards and snakes and I would have them for a night or something. My science teacher in Jr. High had an adult iguana and a baby that she kept at school during the day and snakes and whatever. I got bearded dragons once on my own and just love them! I really want to get into some other lizards when we can which include crested geckos, water dragons both AWD and CWD (sapphires) and some day some larger lizards such as tegus or monitors. Definitely not space now for more than the geckos though in addition to the many many beardies.

My first lizard was a 3 year old Green iguana. I regret getting it now i was just to young. I ended up giving it up about a year later. The lizard was just about as tall as i was(4 1/2 feet). I was six at the time and my mom agreed to let me get it. Now im 14 and have 6 very healthy lizards. Two juvie bearded dragons, two juvie leopard geckos, a juvie mali uromastyx, and an adult male African fat tailed gecko. I have a 10 by 10 room dedicated to just the lizards my other room is my bedroom.
