Italian wall lizards, they are the only legal species you can catch.

Nope, I’ve never caught an italian wall lizard or have found care on them. There are supposed to be 5-lined and coal skinks up here but I dont know where. Also you would need a permit to get them

why dont you get a captive bred one from a pet store? They usually live a lot longer than wild caught ones. At a pet store, they probably dont have wall lizards, but they have ones like leopard geckos and bearded dragons. Both of these species are easy to care for and tolerate handling. They live 10-20 years.

im from long island. ive seen info on italian walls, but please dont go snatching them up. they are the only lizard here and you wanna steal it from its natural enviornment. thats just dumb.

go buy a captive bred reptile. theres a few reputable shops around L.I.

A few shops here on the island can probably try to special order one for you. Reptilia in Massapequa, D&J Reptiles in Hicksville, BTJ’s in West Islip would be your best bets. However, I agree with not capturing a wild one since they are not very common and the only "native" lizard to the island. Yes, there are some salamanders and newts but we all know those aren’t lizards.

ther is a really good pet store meant for breeding herps in LI its called the Reptile Center. the people there are really nice, and the animals are pretty healthy. thats the only place where i will by my herps. they have a website. i think is thereptilecenter.com not sure though. you might just wanna google it. the address is 2503 Middle Country Road in Centereach. their phone # is 631-737-6474
