 New lizard

hey all. before anyone freaks out here just remember ITS NOT MY LIZARD!!
My neighbour was given a present last week of a lizard from his sis and her bf. They dont know what type of lizard it is and asked me( cos i have a snake!!! LOL)
I called to the pet shop where they got it and the muppet there didnt have a clue.
He sold them a tiny case, UVB bulb and heat mat with the lizard but ive gotten him a bigger tank.
Ive looked up enature .com for similar lizards and the only thing I can find that looks like it are geckos. Its about 7-8inches long and looks like a gecko especialy the paws which look identical but i cant find anything with a similar pattern. Its got bug eyes and climbs up and down the glass and stays near the light when possible. Its got stripes going across its body going from light green to dark green and looks very much like velvet.
i know this isnt much to go by but its the best i can do till he gets some pics of it.
Id be greatful if anyone could shed some light on what it is.

day geckos don’t have bands. It sounds more like a banded gecko or a
velvet gecko

No, day geckos do not have bands, but there colors vary. This can make it seem like they have wide bands going around them from color variations of green and blue. And by the way, western/Texas banded geckos cannot climb glass. Velvet gecko is possible, but the colors don’t seem right. It’s better if the search engine is used to find info or a picture is posted for identification.
