How accurate is scale count in sexing males from females do to scales on tail?

Ok so I’ve read alot of pros and cons on scale count for a sexing method. I’m asking since my striped cali king is to old to pop and I don’t have a probe kit or the experience probing. I did the scale count method and according to that my cali king is a female. 106 scales on the belly of her tail 53 on each side. I used her most recent shed which was today and counted it 3 times and got the same number. So I’m asking for input on what you all think of said counting method for sexing a snake.
