Ball python wont eat Ok so my ball python stopped eating as she went into shed. It’s been 2.5wks since her last meal. I’ve tried putting her in a small critter keeper with her frozen thawed mouse hopper to be exact. She use to eat with no problem this way. Well she pooped on the mouse tried again 2 days later same thing. I tried frozen thawed rat pinky nothing. Tried a fuzzy mouse nothing. Last night tried live rat pinky nothing. I know bps are known to go off feed. But she is so young and I want her to eat properly for her age. Oh ya I feed her at night after her lights go out. Always had luck till now. Any advice? And is it ok for her to go this long with out eating or normal to due to shedding?

Ball python wont eat 2.5 weeks is no biggie...be patient...you can’t force it to eat ...young or old they go about doing their own thing
Learn from the snake...remember this time next year as well...they have a habit of repeating their behavior.

Ball python wont eat K thanks. In the back of my head I thought I had read something about that but thought it only reffered to the larger ball pythons. Just want to make sure my little girl grows and develops properly. As far as remembering their habits that’s easy. Everything they do eat, shed, weight checks, tank cleanings, ect. is all documented in my binder along with purchased contracts for some of them that came from the stores.

Ball python wont eat Good for you for keeping detailed records! I wish more people did. I also wish people insisted on records from sellers, both at stores and at shows. It’s often a warning marker for a lower-end source when there are no records.
As for the feeding situation, Chris is right: 2.5 weeks is a short timespan for a snake (they are designed to go months without food if necessary), and ball pythons in particular are *notorious* for going off feed for as long as a few months. So long as the animal does not lose excessive amounts of weight, this is fine. One random trick I heard was to put the snake in a tub and drive it around for ten minutes, then try feeding. I have no idea why that might work, but I’ve seen it before. Good luck either way!

Ball python wont eat Thanks. I for one think it’s important to document everything since it’s the only accurate way to remember everything. Speaking of which I got my little girl to eat. I gave her 2 choices 1 a live rat pinky the other a frozen thawed fuzzy. Put her in the small critter keeper in her tank. Left her their over night till morning. When I woke she ate the fuzzy and left the rat. But hey I’ll take it. Here’s a pic of her from the other night just chilling on my lap.
