 Help identifying please?

Hiya, I rescued these two beauties from a pet store today. I believe they are either clown agama’s or painted agama’s. Or are both of those different names for the same species?

At the moment I have put them in a beardie set up, same temps and food. I am struggling to find any caresheets on these?

Any advice appreciated!

Umm..... How are you going to "rescue" something you just admitted you know nothing about, that is quite the contradictory statement

Hmm... I wondered how long it would take somebody to say something along those lines? I rescued them because the woman in the pet store (who I think is looking after it for her son while he is on holiday) didnt even know what they were called. She was feeding them on lettuce, no UV and low temps. Thats why I say that I rescued them! Now if you have come on here and taken the time to read the forum postings then I am guessing you must have an agama of some kind or at least an interest in them. So many instead of putting me down you could post something helpful? Like I said I have them in a beardie type set up. Which they seem to be content with. I am providing a constant supply of crixs, supers and veggies. I believe they are more carnivorous than the adult beardies. I have a pair, so any help in sexing them would be useful, as currently one is much more dominant that the other. I cannot see any femoral pores of hemiphemal bumps, but they may be too young sex as yet? Do they need a higher calcium intake like the beardies? Should I restrict their D3 intake? Honestly I am just after some complexed husbandry advice or even the contact details for a breeder?

Hello, I am on the Bearded Dragon forums, and you stated that you keep the Agama the same way you keep they BD. You have the Agama on moss, so do you have the BD on moss too? You said the lady you "rescued" them from didn’t know a thing about them. But you don’t either. So technically you are just taking them.
Peace.

Why cant people ask before they shout off?

You are right, they shouldnt be kept on moss. They were in that tank for one night, while I had chance to bake the sand and sterlise their permenant tank. And before anybody says anything about them being on sand, my beardies arent, they are on tile. But these little guys like to burrow in the sand and rocks, so although I dont agree with loose substrate that is what they are on for the time being.

I had kept Beardies for years and successfully breed them. I also have a breeding colony of Water Dragons. I appreciate people pointing out the mistakes they think I have made, however I have still to receive any helpful comments from anyone? Thanks to the help of Bert at Agama International, I have managed to trace down a breeder in the UK. So this thread can just die out now.

I think Cornish_kez has done the right thing personally.

She had a very good idea what they were, she realised that they were NOT being kept in the right conditions, even though she didn’t know exactly what conditions were perfect she must have had a better idea than the pet shop lady.

She’s put them in temp housing while disinfecting/clearning their "real" home and trying to find out as much as possible about them (which is more than the pet shop did) - including specifics on humidity, heat, diet, vitamin and calcium suppliments etc ...

She’s come to the Agama forum to ask for help and you’re just shooting her down rather than giving her the detailed husbandry that she’s requested to give the best possible care she can?

I understand being annoyed at people who just go out and buy repltiles without any reseach ... people come onto the WD forum all the time saying the same thing ... but please take a minute to realise the difference between someone who really will listen to your advice and take it all on board... and someone who thinks their clever cos they’ve got lots of reptiles and no idea how to look after them
