It was not much blood but i could smeer it. I would move the anoles away, it is probably going to stress the anoles out becuse it could be trying to hunt it. Do you live in CA? If so try to catch a "blue belly"(Western Swift)they are good cage mates.

there is a way to tell wether it is a femake or not. you can tell by the tail, if it is swollen it is a male if it is narrow it is a female. but i think you have to wait until mating season to tell but i’m not sure

with alligator lizards it’s easy to tell a male from a female, males have big heads and their coloring is kinda dusty and faded looking, the females have tiny heads and are brighter, sometimes with a reddish orange coloring

Alligator lizard all righty, alligator lizards love to be pet, but if you’re scared and you have one in a cage take some woolen thread (the kind you knit with) and have the end of it touch its head, if it’s well fed and feels safe it will close it’s eyes and let you stroke it with the thread, then you can try to touch it’s back or head (not the tail!) I’ve never been bitten, but my last wild one got away, and I just got my new one a couple days ago. Go to a pet shop and buy meal worms, they shouldn’t cost more than $2 for a container of twenty, keep them refrigerated and warm them in your hand before you feed them to the lizard, they should squirm when warm and attract attention. You should probubly get a heat rock or lamp too, but turn off the lights at night so that it can sleep. Oh, and it’s mating season, so see if you can catch a male and females, the eggs should come out around june/july. (baby lizards! how cute!)

Alligator lizard the only thing i dont like about your advise is the heat rock, those are real bad, they malfunction all too often and can burn the animal. a lamp would be best. other then that you seem to know your gator lizards , have you ever seen the oregon sub-species?

I keep Uros. now but I live in CA and when younger would cathch aligator lizards constantly. They will bite but if small enough 3-7 inches it wont hurt. I used to let the small ones hang off my finger. they love crickets, I mean love and its fun to watch them hunt. Blue bellies are great cage mates for these guys I see them together in the wild all the time. Use a 60 watt heat light and let them in the sun for about one hour each day in a tub. Also I would cathch any bugs around your house to feed them as long as their not lightning bugs ( very poisions)

Alligator lizard
yeah i just caught my alligator lizard like a week ago. I just recently found out that he is missing two ribs from an attack of a larger animal, But he has healed pretty well. He is very active and loves me holding him. He has never even tried to bite me. Should i still worry about him biting me? Also he has 3 blue belly’s as friends in a 15-25 gallon tank, should i get a bigger tank for them? They don’t seem to mind. Also on of my blue belly’s is about to lay eggs will the alligator lizard eat them? They have plenty of space to run around but every once in awhile i will take one out at a time and let then just run out side in the grass. Should i keep them inside at all times. My alligator lizard is named drake and i take really good care of him do you think he will live very long as long as i feed them and take care of the cage?

yes they do bite but for your second question it depends on if the lizard bites hard or not.

Alligator lizard They sure can bite! they can also be very docile. Patience and persistance is the key to being able to handle your lizard with out resorting to neck holding. Expect to get a few bites, its been my experience they tame down as soon as they relize youre not a danger. I just scoop them up, ive had fantastic luck with taming these little guys.
Be gentle with them and patient, good luck
Bjorn
