Can I use dirt for my alligator lizards as substrate???

I highly discourage collect dirt from your backyard or a place like that. You can get natural dirt from a place like lowes but you will need to bake it. The best thing to do is to purchase coconut fiber bedding in brick form. Its already been baked to kill bacteria and parasites.

350 degrees fahrenheit in an oven for 10-15 minutes usually does the trick.

Yea i agree with the others,,,,I used to use dirt from outside and my lizard got sick,,,,,I just go to the petstore and get jungle bed, coconut bed or reptile bark. Coconut is the cheapest and is really safe,,,it is about 2$ for a block and the block expands into 9 quarts i think
