 Pregnant Lizard?

We have four lizards co-habitating and believe one is pregnant. Is there a way to tell for sure and does anyone have any suggestions on how to care for the mother? Thanks much for any help we can get.

 Pregnant Lizard?

Thanks geckoman619. Do you think I should separate her from the other two lizards? My boyfriend wants to feed her pinkies...what do you think?

 Pregnant Lizard?

I would separate her so she can relax a little better. Pregnant females can feel vulnerable so being around other lizards is just going to be a constant stressor. She will also want a quite and secluded place to lay her eggs/give birth.

Before feeding pinkies, try scrambled eggs. They will give her a protein boost and they healthier. My recommendation would be to only feed 1 pinkie or eggs once a week. Feeding more than that can cause her to become over weight.

If the lizard is gravid (pregnant) then you should separate it from the others. it should be fairly obvious to tell if it is or not because she will get a lot heftier than the others. depending on if your alligator lizard is a northern or southern it will either lay eggs or give live birth. if it’s a southern you should set up places for it to lay (small containers with moist soil, moss, eco earth etc etc will work) feed her well, and use vitamin/calcium supplements.
