i found this alligator lizard in my back yard it was pretty big about 6 7 in it was also thick...........i was going to keep it but decided it would be better to let it go

Nope. Its an alligator lizard. They are commonly mistaken for skinks, especially by people who aren’t from the area.

Thank you, the bad thing is he’s missing half of his back right leg. I went on vacation two years ago and when i came back it was gone.
But he’s doing great though.
