 Breeding in captivity

We have a total of 5 alli’s. 2 males: 13in. with full tail, and 7 in. with about a one inch re-grown tail, but his body is about twice as large as the other male.

We also have two females that are about the same size And age as the males respectively.

as well as a yearling. ( we have a male fence lizard as well )

the alli’s have mated, should we separate the breeding pairs or keep them all together?

I’d separate the females and house them individually if you want to maximize your chances of recovering the eggs. Some als are adept nest raiders and one of your guys may beat you to the eggs.

 Breeding in captivity

Breeding in captivity and owning over 2 specimens of one native species(on most species, including allies) is illegal in California unless you are able to obtain special scientific permits that allow the possession of extra specimens and a permit that allows you to breed native species. Please make yourself aware of California’s laws.

Anyways, you should separate them all into their own cages. If the females are gravid, they are going to become very aggressive. Males shouldn’t be house together at all to begin with. Housing a male in with a gravid female is just going to stress her out and it could cause her to abort the eggs.
