 What is the vacation plan for Alligator Lizards?

We have a few trips planned this summer - for the 2 week one I plan to take him and his whole tank to a friend that has had lizards in the past for care and feeding. For the 2 weekend trips though would I be able to just add more crickets to the tank than usual if we’ll only be gone for 3 days? Will he be OK with ’just’ a water dish for a few days and not the daily misting?

What do you guys do when you go out of town?

what i do is put crickets in there with enough sood and spay the tank one last time and then put a water bowl in there and they will be fine.

if you leave crickets in there they will chew on your lizard. get a food dish and put in mealworms

Mealworms bury themselves and thus become useless. Not to mention, alligator lizard have problems digesting them as they almost always come out whole.
Extra crickets is your best option if you are only going to be away for the weekend. A few extra crickets won’t be able to cause damage within 2 days. If you are still worried, don’t feed him for those few days. He will be fine surviving off his fat reserves. Water is an absolute must though. If he dish drys out fast or it easily spills, you might want to add a second one or a larger one while you are away.
