I have a Southern (and he’s totally healthy, before you guys ask me) and I was taking some close-up pictures of him the other day, and I noticed that he has hexagonal pupils. Is this limited to Southerns or so other allies have it too? Never really noticed it before in any other allies I’ve caught. If you guys have any good close-up shots of your allies’ heads please post them! I would love to check into this, as I’ve never really read about it before! Here’s a picture:

What do you mean, "what’s it called?" He has pupils in the shape of a hexagon. THat means six sides. If you have a picture of an allie’s head post it and we can compare!

Its normal and not unique to just southern alligator lizards, or alligator lizards.

Ah. I appreciate you saying that. All the same, it looks pretty neat. My rat snake’s eyes are as round as marbles, and it’s a contrast between the two reptiles that I’ve never noticed before.

Here’s a pic of the rat snake. Compare it to the alli.
