How often should i feed my lizard?

i feed 5 crickets in a week for my lizard but suddenly she isn’t eating the crickets...i think shes full cause of how the snakes and lizards dont eat everyday...i dunno so can some one give m advice why she is not eating like crazy?

How long have you had her? How long has she exhibited this loss of appetite? What is your set-up like? What kind of lights are you using? How old are your lights? What kind of supplements are you using? Is this the northern with the eye problem? Has the eye problem been resolved?

If she still has the eye problem, and you have access to a qualified herp vet, I’d take her there (she may have developed an infection, that has lead to loss of appetite). If you don’t have access to a vet, put her on something like paper towels and wash the eye daily with saline solution (this will keep the eye clean and hopefully allow it to heal on it’s own, if it’s infected this may not work; you would need a vet to prescribe the appropriate antibiotics). You want to get rid of substrate or anything that could get into the eye and further irritate it until the eye heals. While you have her on paper towels, make a moist hide out of a plastic container with a hole in the side and place moist paper towels at the bottom, remoisten and replace the towels as needed. Make sure you have UVB producing lights that are within 10" of the tank floor and are not over 6 months old. Make sure you are using a calcium supplement at every feeding that is phosphorus free and contains vitamin D3. Remove any uneaten crickets after 15 minutes.

It’s not normal for an al to stop eating for an extended period, so there is likely something wrong. I feed my adult als every 2-3 days and they almost never refuse a meal.

well...she hasn’t been eating THIS weekthe other weeks she were doin fine..only this week...and well i have a heater for my lizard not lights because this is a northern and i guess where i and they live they dont need much sun lights...any ways when you mentioned the eye problem i wrote on before the eye problem was fixed by me so shes fine...i feed her 5 cricks every week but i think she might be full for this week...

well, i feed my liz 1 cric every other day and she is 6 inches long, but it realy depends how big the lizard is. how big is yours?

Thats cruel and practically starving the poor thing. You should be offering food everyday, even if he decides he is not hungry and a healthy alligator lizard should be eating at least 5 crickets every other day.
