 Northern Alli (i believe!)

I just recently got an Alligator Lizard that i believe to be a girl
From what i know (ive been at school a lot!) she still hasnt eaten.
My mother says that she has been a little more active during the day when she dosent see my mom. And that she loves to look out the window, and that she loves the sun. Yet my mom cant tell me if she is eating.
My mother, without asking me, put a bunch of things in her cage. INcluding a caterpillar, which my mother says she was playing with.
am i doing anyhting wrong that might be harming her, or causeing her not to eat?

dont hand feed them they are pretty good at catching it themselves, and watching them catch their food is one of my favorite parts of keeping alligator lizards, i just use a uvb light and and a heat lamp on one end of the tank to make a hott & cold side, using calcium dust for the crickets will help make your allie live long, and remember give it some places to hide rocks plants and stuff and dont worry if they hide alot they will prob spend most their time hiding somewhere thats their natural behavior that keeps them safe out in the wild,
its prob still young so might be hard to tell what gender it is but would love to see some pics of it

also considering that i just got it a few days ago, i havent got all of the proper equipment. At the moment i am in the journey of trying to obtain a glass aquarium (20-? Gals) my mom found a 45 gallon one, but the people still havent emailed her back yet. :(

Then, when we get the tank, i am going to get all of the items i need, but the thing is that i dont know what kind of lamps i need.. help[ please?]

Really.. i need to get the calcium and multivitamin dust still. so yea.

the lamps are pretty cheap around ten buck and you can use them for lights or a heat lamp you can get at the petstore or a home depot or something, but the actual heat lamp bulb i got from the pet store was expensive but is perfect for keepin the temps up at night without having to keep a light on

i think they are all the same i just go for the cheapest possible, and remeber to look at the watts they will recomend certain watts for certain size tank but they write it on the box for you so its easy to know which one to get

I didnt bother reading any of this but as far as the post title goes, A Northern will have lines(or "stripes") going through the middle of the belly scales a Southern will have them going down the sides of the scales.

crickets are for the main diet and occasionally should give them worms, wax worms, meal worms, when your allie gets pretty big you can try super worms but if you allie is not big enough it will prob just throw it up later, and i occasionally will throw in some bugs i find around the house, cockroaches, moths ,butterflies, grasshoppers

i dont know about the laws in oregon but if you want to catch some in california you have to have a fishing license and the limit is two whoops! haha i usually always have a fishing license but i do have more than two, technically you have to get another special permit to keep more. but ive never heard of anyone getting in trouble for having a allie maybe if you tried to sell it you might get in trouble,

if you dont see your allie eat it doesnt mean it isnt soo just watch it too see if it gets thinner and when you put crickets in watch for a few min to see if it goes for any, im having the same thing with my red alligator lizard i havent see it eat a single thing in months!!! but im assuming it is find crickets in its hiding place cause she is still healthy
