My alli doesn’t want to eat anymore

I have had him for about a week caught wild. He is really calm lets us handle him with no problem. at first he ate super worms well and then we got him crickets for variety. He seem to be too slow to catch anything, and when I put them in front of him he sometimes will go for it but miss and the cricket or super worm gets away the last couple of supers that he actually caught he spit back up. Any suggestions on what to do? Or other foods that he may like better.

the super worms are prob to big for your alli to digest, seems only my two really big alligator lizards eat those with no problem, try meal worms and waxworms they love those but should only give those on the side, shouldnt be their main diet ive heard they are to fatty especially the waxworms

and as far as not catching any thing its prob just not hungry or maybe its too stressed out since youve recently caught it which is normal, my allies which ive had most of them at least a year do that too alot of times ill put crickets in and they wont even go for them cause they dont have to eat every day, and they usually wait for their food come to them! its only when havent eaten for a while that they will actually chase them down to eat

really young allies can be fed every day, but my adult allies i now only feed 2 or maybe 3 times a week and they def are not on the thin side my tank is a 60 gallon with alot of places to hide so i know that they find some crickets later, which is fine just dont put 30 crickets in your tank at once the crickets could end up chewing your allies toes off or tail this spring i had some eggs hatch and some crickets ended up chewing off one of the hatchling’s tail off

sorry i typed soo much but thats what this place is for! lol

and here is a pic of my tank which i need to clean lol, that rock in the middle i got from the fish department at petsmart, its plastic and hollow and my allies love it they sleep alot in there

our alli is about 12in. including his tail. We have a 60 gal. tank but it is pretty open and he doesn’t have any place to hide. So yea he is probably really stressed. I will try crickets again and get meal and wax worms for treats. How often do you give calcium and vitamins to your allis. Thanks for your info. it was very helpful. And your tank is awsome BTW.

thankyou, i think its supposed to be calcium 2 times a week and vitamins once a week, ill admitt i dont have a exact method for mine but i tend to just one week dust all the crickets in calcium at once for the week, then switch to vitamin for 1 week
