Northwestern Alligator Lizard Breeding(Livebirth) Anyone with experience breeding the Northern subspecies, any tips or guidelines to follow that you would recommend? I have tried to breed them 4 years in a row, a new pair each year, and only three pairs mated. The second year was the only year I had success, and with one offspring, it was a little disappointing. I was still glad to have been able to help bring that one to life though. Does anyone have anything they could tell me about how they have had success, what conditions change if any need to in the enclosure, temperatures and such, etc?

Northwestern Alligator Lizard Breeding(Livebirth) I have pretty good luck breeding Northern Alligator lizards, I have a 100 gallon tank, 1 male, 4 females, a lot of plants, and water, I keep the temperature around room temperature or a little higher, give them a place to "hide" I also make sure the babies have their own "CUBBY HOLES". (smaller than the hiding area for the adults. I feed crickets (lightly salted with calcium with vitamin D3) and small red worms (the lizards burrow for the worms,). They seem to like having a warm side of the tank and a cool side of the tank, so I provide both. It may be that because they have alot of room, and a natural habitat (or as close to one that I can design) that they are comfortable enough to breed. I hope this helps you.

Northwestern Alligator Lizard Breeding(Livebirth) i havent bred any, but a female i caught had 5 babys about 3 weeks ago. somewhere i read that they only normally have babys evry other year, because they need that extra year to recover compleatly from the last litter/batch.
i dont know how old they have to be to breed, or how to tell the genders apart, without seeing them breed or give birth.
sorry
