 Celtic and Bayou--or anyone

I have a problem I hadn’t really considered. I have the gator in the basement and he’s doing great, but... The humidity has gotten oout of control and I’m afraid of mold invading the walls and ruining the house. How do/did you guys cope with the massive humidity in the basement? A dehumidifier would be useless.

When I started keeping my babies "down below" I didnt have much of a problem the basement walls were concrete and conducted heat and the flooring though wood was treated... I only did checks once a month to check the affects of the heatlamp water combo on the "ceiling" of the basement... my ONLY problem was when we had hard rains and the otherside of the basement flooded....MAJOR water damage.. the only advice I can offer you hun is to research fool proof ways to protect your basement for once I dont have an answer to the question but... maybe someone else does Hang in there!!!!!!

You may wish, depending upon the structure of your basement to go with a vapor retarder, or to remove drywall completely and go with humdity proof drywall common called "greenboard" used in bathrooms and showers. As for vapor retardant check: http://oikos.com/esb/29/vrpaint.html
