 HELP! MY CAIMAN MAKING NOISES!

So what’s going is I had this caiman for about 1 week ive noticed that its been making alot of funny barking or burping noises! I’m just wondering if I could be doing something wrong? he’s hungry? or it’s just normal for them to do that at a very young age. He’s about maybe 1 and a half or 2 months old. He also loves chilling on the dry land and not go into the water, is there something wrong with that too? Any information or advice would be much appreciated.

 HELP! MY CAIMAN MAKING NOISES!

Your caiman is perfectly fine, if he wasn’t making those noises and scratching himself then hes not a caiman or its dead, but yours is well alive, when you look at them they bark or hiss, they are shy animals, they also chirp to communicate with other caiman wether they are there or not they at least try to see if something will chirp or bark back. All that is normal and anyone who knows anything about caiman knows that this is all normal vocalization. They are very vocal, sometimes if they are scared they chirp for thier mom or if they are hungry or if they get exited and they dont like to be stared at either. Peace.......

 HELP! MY CAIMAN MAKING NOISES!

A Variety... but the questions your asking make me think you didnt properly research regardless now that you have him better at least help for the sake of your caiman

Limit the fish, fish are oily they will cause Vitamin B Deficentcy, they need calcium from bone or can suffer from MBD... Fish should be a treat, depending on size crickets for snack, pinkies, small mice, some as the caiman grows will give chicken, My guys get fresh venison and I have a male gator who devours an entire goat...

you need to remember in th wild they eat things ranging fro msandfleas and crickets to turtles mice and other small mammals..as they grow the appetite increases... keep the water clean as well keep the temp warm. both water and basking this is crucial a gator can liv under a 2ft sheet of ice as long as there is a place for O2 But they rely on fat stores in the tail, gators cant eat when they are cold it slows metabolism and they wont digest properly causing gas build up and death... so make sure to maintain his temperature... they also have crocodilian dietary you can toss in..pellets but this is no substitute for real meat... they have vitamin suppliements..

What most people dont realize is crocodilians have a certain "tolerance" to high temperatures, due to the nerve endings in their body.... you can always offer to spritz him, Try pinkies and crickets, small drumlegs (yanno thawed chicken legs) I am not sure exactly how big he is, you can also toss a live mouse (Adult) in with him just monitor, I have seen many reptiles take nasty hits from their prey.

Woe that is the lost nicest and leniant Ive seen you be in replying to a post like that Celtic.......lol I’m used to seeing you go off on people for posts like that.

Its obvious that the kid needs ALOT of learning if they are trying to trade a very common cheap priced snake for a 200 to 300 hundred dollar caiman, that would be a hustle for sure, so if the kid doesn’t know you cant trade a common snake for a caiman then they surely havent done much research, On the other hand I am not against younger people having caiman if they have done thier home work and thier parents are the legal gaurdians of the animal until the kid turns 18 but the kid definately needs to research and weigh out how much work and money it really takes to house a caiman and get a job and come up with at least 200 dollers before inquiring about dwarf caiman plus money to build a good enclosure and heat lights ect.......
