 CIAMAN SKIN/SCALE PROBLEM!

I was taking out my caiman out to clean today and ive notice that two pieces of his skin or scales fell off and under was like gray. I’m wondering if theres parasites attacking my caiman to cause that or is it just natural for them to loose scales like that and it grows back? I hope its not anything bad.

 CIAMAN SKIN/SCALE PROBLEM!

Thats normal, that means hes growing, they shed one scale at a time, lizards shed large peices of skin and snakes shed the whole outer layer at once, its normal and the more he grows the more scales you will see in the water.......Now on another note alot of caimans have dark places in thier mouths, it ussually dont bother them but if it looks really bad like and rotten then it could be a problem.

 CIAMAN SKIN/SCALE PROBLEM!

Really now. I thought at first it was healthy thats why his skin was coming off, but he does have some dark spots around his mouth I wonder what can that be. I’m glad hear that he’s just growing.

 CIAMAN SKIN/SCALE PROBLEM!

Alot of caiman have dark spots on thier mouths, it should be a problem but if it ever gets to the point where it looks like its gonna rot through his jaws then seek help on how to clean his mouth ect. Alot of people freak out but in the wild they have spots too, yellow and black, it comes from food they eat and bacteria feeds on the stuff left in the mouth, humans that dont clean thier tounges will get get a nasty looking mouth from the waste of bacteria and it causes bad breath ect. I wouldn’t freak out though, gators, crocs, and caiman have dirty mouths, they rip food apart , leaving peices in the mouth that bacteria feeds on, it can get bad in some cases to where something needs to be done but your caiman seems fine.......Peace
