Has anyone messured their ACCG (alligator, caiman, croc, gravil) lenth on a monthly basis? Do you know if their growth patterns fluxuate depending on the month (like 1" during march, 3" during sept.)?

What’s your favourite food to feed YOUR pet?
I love feeding crayfish and crabs!

Oh and one more; For those of you with tame (wild animal adjusted to capitivity) animals, what feeding procedures do you follow? In tank, out in a box, in your bed/kitchen/bathroom?

It varies...... My Guys grow depending on the time of year, they prefer of course Degus as a treat..they geta variety beef, chicken...Pork...I keep a constant supply of feeder fish (Minnows) for them so they always have food on hand as for feeding they come to the food I dont feed them in the water I toss it to them..they catch it I dont stick my hand near their mouths to be certain

Ok, that’s cool. That’s how i’m feeding mine right now (tossing) but i’m worried that will make him lung at me every time i go to the tank. Sometimes he gets a little wound up and leaps out of the water toward my hand. I know that allot of people (myself included) dont feed their snakes in the cage to prevent this action. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it for ACCG. Celtic, how old are your gators? and how long are they now?

Thanks,
dusty

My little girl came from a bad home she was stunted shes five years old only three feet tops My Male is 3 and three and a half feet long. Prometheus I can do almost anything with the female is learnign trust again so shes bitten me several times but with reptiles you can expect that..... the best thing to do is to hold your pet them roe you hold them the calmer they get..if they know your afraid they intimidate they smell it...you cant let that occur its why I dont recommend gators to just anyone... as for snakes being fed in the cage itsa touchy subject theo nly one I feed in the cage is My Burmese Yit but Ive had him since he was a baby hes a Juvi now and at around 8ft a good guy real calm but hes so damn big now as is my female Maf shes around the same size

I’ve got a small 16" caiman. He was a little jerk when i got him but since has calmed down. He was a resuce from a friend; some guy just gave it to him cuz the novelty had worn off i guess. apparently he’s over a year :( For a while i would put my hand in his mouth to get him to not bite (give him the idea that i’m not hurt by it); that worked for a while but now he’s got a pritty strong bite and doesnt lung so there’s really no need for it. He’s friendly enough now to be handled without any worry of him biting. He’s still very nervouse if someon comes from far. I’m a little worried about the future, i’ve heard caiman’s are super mean. so far it seems that he has turned 180 degrees. He loves beeing pet(ed???) and having his feet rubbed on the bottom. Guess we’ll see. I love him to pieces.

What’s a bite like from your three footers? When do you think you’d have to worry about bites that will be severe enough to cause wounds that need stiches?

Thanks,
Dusty

My Labrynth is 12..... I have quite the many reptiles love them to death...for my Gators Pandora has got a NASTY bite when I first gor her she clamped down on my hand and refused to let go...I didnt move despite the fact it hurt like a bozo..the more you struggle the harder they bite...and the pressure is IMMENSE..I dont hold it against her with the hell shes been through..... I went to my vet...imagine a towel wrapped about gator and hand...drove myself asked to see rachel it was an emergency...they let me in had a feeling of why (they know me) so I sat down she came in and we waited the bite was pretty nsty she clamped between thumb and forefinger and latched we got her to release and Rachel sutured up one place with a little concern.... I didnt think it was that deep... thats the only time shes bitten me though thems teeth is shaaaaaaaaaaaaaarp heh its great...and then of course the incident with...well I wont get into that but it wasnt me *giggle* my guys ae pretty good when I got Pan she had the temperment of a Caiman very vicious always lunging now.. she dont care..and prometheus is my baby hes very VERY docile usually stress calls if anything.... everyone gets bit at one point in time...with breeding my snakes Ive done it *shrugs* I just dont care anymore If I get bit I get bit if I dont I dont you learn to expect and accept it and typically it doesnt occur but Im proud to say Im one of those that ahs been bitten heh...at least Im not an idiot that deliberately sticks my hand into the mouth *grins*or sticks my tongue out at it

Too funny. Thanks for the info. I dont overly mind getting bit. I’m used to it... ..been bitten by lots of boas, pythons, Frogs (pacman and bull are nasty). By far the wrost was a 2.5foot african lung fish. I just dont want to find out my 3 foot "baby" caiman’s gonna shred my arm to the bone with a barrel roll. :D

Pets are fun :)

My Dad when we used to And yes this sounds really Bad but incubate Gator eggs we had a 13 inch baby Gator that decided my dads finger looked tasty during feeding...latched on..... Hun I will tell you this a snakebite is NOTHING like a Gatorbite PERIOD....that thirteen inch shredded my dads finger broke the bone they have immense jaw prssure everyone as ah andler gets bit..I have scars from being 9 years old and getting "nipped" you learn to live with it...word of advice..if you get bit and they latch on...dont try to pry your hand free they latch on harder...just relax grin and bear it until they release. It isnt pleasant but you learn to deal with it as said Pandora nailed me good once....every "owner" of a gator gets the hell nipped outta them..its inevitable it will happen take it with a grain of salt as long as it wasnt done by means of sfe (stupid fu*king Error) on your part you know teasing tauntign showing off for friends with "Look what I can do"

Cool. Guess what?! I’m hopefully getting a few Suriname horned frogs next week! Male and 2 females. I’m so hyped. I love big fat frogs. I’ve got a Pyxie frog too :D. I’m hoping to breed the surinames but we’ll see what thier condition is and how old they are :D
