| Did you research everything about your Boa before you got him? So you knew how big he was going to get and how much he was going to eat, right? It think that most of the people in this Forum did the research before they purchased/aquired their Gators. Especially the ones that need to aquire a permit to own one. BTW who are you to say that I can not AFFORD to feed my Gator or have enough room to house them. Hey Bayou does your 8ft feel cramped or is he starving all the time because you can’t afford to feed him? Didn’t think so. BoneCrusher420, not everyone is irresponsible, some actually do the work and find out about the species before getting them. With the exception of the few that give us all a bad name! |

| well lets see im sure that when my snake reaches adult size around 7ft i will only need to feed it one jumbo rat 1.75 every 2 weeks and a my 90gl will still acomidate him. but you would need a giant pound and tons of food to feed a gator how much room to have for your gators and 14ft isent unheard of what happens then when the thing can eat you and dont bother saing a 7ft boa can eat me because it cant |

So that means no one should own Hots, or Retics, they can kill you. I’m just saying that the responsible people that own gators thought about that question before getting them. The ones who got them because they were COOL and then all of a sudden they got bit and it was not fun anymore are the ones that give us all a bad name. BTW that is a good price for a jumbo rat, I think I used to pay $2.50 a rat for my Boas. If you ask Bayou his 8ft is as docile as a dog. that comes with lots of patience and time. Mine is not quite there yet though. |

| auctally i think its kinda dumb to own a hot two whats the point people say oh i like owning this but isent it really just to show off same with the gators whats the point dont bother saing whats the point of owning a boa or python because they can be tamed and handled and a retic can kill but thats only if your dumb enough to to have someone watching. besides a gator could never be docile |

That’s not true bone. We all have different intrests and life to short not to take full advantage of them. I keep all kinds of herps from alligators to exotic venomous snakes. I have done plenty of research on anything I keep and that is key. Female gators tame quite easily in captivity and if you look at the statistics, only one reported injury from a captive gator in 12 yrs. That is amazing in it self. Now a male gator is completely different. They grow much larger and hard to tame. Peace |

| Normally Ive given up on arguing here but snakes are involved...ANY constrictor is dangerous...ANY oh and as for the Jumbo rat once a week at 7ft.... Right now I house a Juvenile Burmese whom is only six feet....He eats 2 FULL GROWN rabbits a week..eats more before he sheds THEN takes a break..a Jumbo rat wont cut it...they eat 3 times the size of their head and at 7ft just giving it one rat a week is near starving it...thought I would put that in...and yes a 7ft can still kill you....No NO reptile can be tamed..they still have primal instincts..you can "sedate" them so to speak get them aquired to being Handled..doesnt mean that they wont turn around and bite....My Female Retic for the longest time had a good temper but every so often shed snap at me.... No snake is a bad snake they have personalities like people dogs or cats...its not right to categorize them...Keep in mind a constrictor is a constrictor..and if yours wants to bite he will if he wants to wrap around your neck he will.... My Gators are nicely Housed, Bayou here has some Nicely Housed Gators....we research and build in accordance to how large they will get...Our guys dont starve...dont sit there and insinuate people here are ignorant....we arent we take time for our animals we handle them we care for them...trust me my gators my snakes are better fed then one Jumbo rat a week...best get to thinking on what you will feedh im when he gets older... Been in the reptile buisness for a LONG time....Also....did you know that Gerbils and Hamsters have more meat and are better off for smaller snakes??and that rats pretty much have little "Nutritional value?" so I pay about 4 bucks a pop for my smallers guys food they seem happier...instead of large rats try Guinea pigs..Im sure Bonecrusher there will whine and complain at me because Im snapping and not on his side but if you ask me..a 7ft constrictor getting 1rat a week is being NEGLECTED they have to eat and they have to eat until full Im not saying cram the food down their throats...or power feeding but they get nice lil appetites and you will find...when you feed them bigger..... they "eat less" and they satiate quicker they tell you when YOUR supposed to feed THEM not vice versa people just dont listen. So before you critisize others here or..better yet whats the point of having a Gator?? lemme answer that.... when you raise them from a small smize they become calmer less likely to bite much like a snake...both will bite....neither can be tamed..but they grow accoustomed to your presence and get to where they respond. BTW Bayou I moved back to SC lol.... Im resettled and my gators are officially happy in their NEW improved environment I dont think Ill have to worry about if they outgrow their home now...Ive got them fixed up and content |

| If you think you can ’TAME’ a snake then you are a VERY wrong person. Would you trust a full grown python along in a room with your new born? Why not Bone, you said you can tame them. You are wrong about gators being docile. My friend has a gator that plays with there pit bull, and has done this for many years without incident. I’m not saying anything dumb like he is tame, because they are sepperated when not under supervision. BTW do you think the people that milk snakes for the production of anti-venom do it at the Zoo? What about the ones on display at the zoo that are captive breed, not always born at the zoo, are they. We mock what we do not understand. |

Wow another reptile expert!!! I missed the begining but I assume we are talking about a columian boa and if you think 7 feet is it you are sadly mistaken I personally had owned a 13 foot female and currently have a 8.5 foot male. What are you going to do when your animal is eating Rabbits at 10 dollars a peice. I know most of us can afford what we have if you rely on your knowledge for your income I think you will find you are BROKE. |

| Bayou hunni Im tickledp ink Bones an EXPERT!!!!!! wow lemme think....a Gator thats not docile??could never be docile??that we have ours JUST to show off?? I love how idiots sterotype us..... Oh but bet he wont feed his guy bunnies..Like I said I have a male Juvenile Burm that eats 2 FULL GROWN rabbits per feeding.... Bet he doesnt realize they usually tend to eat 3 times the size of their head.....Guys I love my retics...whjat about you?????Oh and as for my gators...Lets see Prometheus walks on a leash..... and is possibly better then a dog...seems to be a known fact more people are injured and killed by "Domesticated" animals ie dogs...horses....and thel ike then by Gators and sharks combined..should tell Bone something...but that requires...well NM onto a better point...Bayou my guys are in HEAVEN got a manmade pond set up on the property and stocked with Brim and Bass....a few turtles here and there...so my babies are in their own little Lagoon...they still come out for parental time and the tossing of innards...hunting season will be rolling around so they will be nice and fat before too long to say the least.... can at least monitor them from my bedroom window they come up and bask its been rather hot here aside from the storms....But making this short got to clean up after the serpents |
