What The Hell?!?!?!?

at my part time job a woman there told me her son got an alligator. these people had had an iguana for years, but when she talked to me i found out they weren’t feeding it properly and didn’t even use any kind of lighting! no uvb no heat or anything. so i know this guy doesn’t have a clue about keeping an alligator. when i asked what they were going to do for food and adequate room for it, she said well he moved out so its not her problem anymore. AAARRGGGHHH! i just wanted to break into his house and rescue it and bring it to someone who has some sense. any not only that, my friend told this girl at work that i have a "safari" at my house and she goes "my boyfriend has an alligator" i asked how big it was and what they were feeding it, of course she said goldfish and thats it. DAMMIT i really don’t think that an alligator or croc should be someone’s first reptile. you need to know general stuff on reptiles, and of course you need to know specific stuff when dealing with creatures like these. i would love one, but i know i would never be able to properly house an adult alligator anytime in the near future. im thinking maybe when i get in a good 10 years or more with bigger lizards and bigger snakes, then if i really want a smooth front croc or something i’ll be able to deal with it’s attitude and care. but i’m sick of these people giving reptile hobbyists a bad name! sorry for rambling.
