California Tree Frog has "bubble" on tail. ??

I have had two frogs for over one year. They both are fat and eat mostly worms and crickets. One has developed a large "bubble like protrusion on her rear". The bubble is about the size of a pencil eraser.

Help would be appreciated.

I am treating him with sugar water often but the prolapse is so large I doubt if it will recede. There is always food in his cage but I guess he over ate this time since he is really fat compared to is mate.

Thank you very much for the very prompt response. If he recovers I will post same.

Well, he jumped around too much and the bubble now has a hole in it, any suggestions?

Separate him off into a smaller hospital type enclosure with clean paper towel as a substrate. That way it will at least stay clean untill you get him to a vet, which is what you are going to have to do. With a hole in the part of the intestine thats outside the body thats a clear pathway for pathogens and infection to set in.

If you care about the frog you need to see a vet, as soon as you possibly can.

I care very much about all of my animals

Once the prolapse was determined and it broke soon there after, there was little hope. It was after 5:00 my time, no Dr. available.

This morning.....

The enclosure the frogs are in contain a number of items such as a water pool, sand, rocks and hiding places. I found a very small worm which had grown into very large worm compared to the mouth of the frog. He may have eaten another large one!

The frog had almost doubled in size over night. It is a recognized fact that live worms will eat the stomach of a reptile.

I have buried the frog and cleaned the enclosure. Thank you for your concern.
