Fire belly toads Some just change colors on their own. Be careful with the gravel-some may eat it and get impacted. I do not have any gravel in with mine-just an empty bottom.

Fire belly toads
that may be true for the oreantal (might have spelled it wrong sorry) fire bellys but the european fire bellys are either a dark brown, black or gold (and of course a red or orange belly) but the european can only change darker or lighter. for instance my dark brown european fire belly is now black, the only thing i did diff. is change the dirt (it was a dark black color) and added more plants (it is more shaddy, lol sorry my spelling sucks) once this happend my gold one turned a dark brown (lol it still has 2 gold spots on its back) and so after keeping them in a cage with balck dirt and lots of plants the have turned darker. then i changed the dirt to a light light brown color and they are still way dark and prob. will be like that for a long time.
hope i help a little
