Fire belly newts They eat almost anything that moves-crickets, bloodworms, earthworms, small shrimp, some eat fish. DO NOT mix them with anything else-they secrete toxins which can be fatal to other animals. Some come out of the water, some do not. I have a paddletail newt that eats crickets and fish and he never comes out of the water and he is by himself in a 10 gallon. Check out this website: caudata.org - it is devoted to newts and salamanders. Be careful when you buy one though-the one I got was marked as a fire belly newt but he’s a paddle tail and the pet store had him with fbts and they thought the fbts were escaping but they were getting eaten. Feel free to ask any more questions.
