most likely insects, but if it is big enough you can feed it small pinkeys, and other frogs(small frogs)-becareful though, do not feed it a superworm/mealie worms etc without crushing the head first, because the hard shell can’t be digested fast enough so youll end up with the mealie worm digging through the toads stomach-so all different kinds of bugs and small mammels.

Ok calm down. I have a toad i got just two weeks ago. Hes about 1 and a half inches long ( head to bottom ways ) and an inch from side to side. What I do is a get a fly swatter and swat flys. Take a peice of hair. ( hair must be a long hair ) Tie the hair to one of the flys legs. Sway it infront of the frog or toads face. Then set it on a rock beside the frog or toad. Wait a few moments and the frog or toad should stick out his toung and eat it. Its really cool. Soon or later the frogs or toad should get used to eating. Then you can catch lightening bugs stick them in front of your frog or toad on a rock. He should eat them. If its night time and the bug is glowing you can see it glowing inside of the frog or toad. I hope this helps! Good luck!

i no what a toad eats but it depends what size ur toad is cuz i found a baby toad in my pool just now the babys eat pin head crickets,fruit flies,small regular crickets,ants,ormosquito larve.ask ur local pet store 4 these items but u wont find the mosquito larve there that is located on top of a pond oh and also u can get a female toad it will feed it like its young!If u have an adult toad then u can just go 2 ur local pet store and buy regular size crickets.And if u have a bullfrog then feed it large crickets,or mosquitoes.lol i luv 2 help u

Hello. This all depends on the size of your toad. XL , Large , Medium, Small , XS
Currently I Have A XS and a medium. But i have had every single size you can think of from XXL ( rare) To XXS . Medium to larger sizes usually eat bugs that fly like.. Flys or ( Their favorite! LIGHTENING BUGS!!! ) With the flies you have to kill hem and then use a blade of hair that you tie to the flys leg and then just slightely hover it in front of the toads face * gross job. I know * But for small small toads like my other on you should really use that fly method and not the lightening bugs. An inch long is about a medium size toad. And a XXS is the size of your pinkie nail. I have had 2 toad at the same time that where as big as my hand!!! But they were no Bull Frogs lol. One more thing. You say you found this in a pool? Make sure you give it a nice clean home!!! With fresh water and small rocks to fill the bottom. A few small plants or tall grasses you find in your own back yard make a wonderful habitat for your toad and make it feel more at home. Make sure you clean the cage or tank about once a week. If you dont it will get green and smelly and eventually your toad turns green!! It has happened to me. My medium toads name is Duey and the XXS is Jelly Bean. Duey I have had for 2 years. I let him go last year and got him back to day. I know its him because of a silly little dot on the head. I really hope I helped and good luck to your toad! - Preppy.

they also eat mealworms you can get them at anny pet store.they love them. i have four toads. two big two small. they all eat them but make sure if you buy mealworms you use plyers because they bite.

dont feed mealworms, feed superworms, they are healtheir, and for a wild caught frog or toad you should feed mainly crickets and earthworms, as this is what they would eat in the wild. and contrary to what anyone tells you, mealworms will NOT eat their way out of your frogs stomache.

Does anyone have information on food besides bugs that toads can eat? I saw the other reply listed lettuce, carrots, etc. and wondering if anyone else has experience feeding a toad non-insect food. My toad has no tongue and is blind so we put the food in his mouth.

then he might have spit the worm out, or choked on it, because its physically impossible for a meal worm to eat its way out of anything,, they breathe trhough their skin, and drown in the stomache fluids in about 15 seconds. test it.. take a mealy, and put it in a cup of water and see how long it takes to stop moving

over by my house there is a ponding basin and for the past couple days a bunch of baby frogs or toads have been jumping out of there and into the cement and getting stepped on or in the road and getting run over. Yesterday i Saw one hopping around and decided to take it home and have no clue what kind it is and have no clue what to feed itits about 1/2 inch big and its brownish-green with black and brown spots..

Lmao! I wish this were a moderated forum. I swear this thread has some of the stupidest replies I’ve read yet! Are there really people out there stupid enough to think that amphibians eat fruits and vegetables? Get a clue! And if someone is going to take a frog or toad from the wild I wish to god those people were smart enough to research BEFORE they do.

And for the record, american toads are one of the very few species that can eat lightning bugs. You feed them to a non-indigenous reptile or amphibian and it will be poisoned.

they eat crickets make sure their live they like it more.

they eat flies make them alive so that they cant move and hang it on a thread and move it a little in front of its face and it should stick out its tongue and wham it ate it!

that’s the main stuff u can pretty much feed it other insects make sure there not bigger than the toad!

DO NOT NO GIVE IT A WORM IT WILL SQUIRM IN IT BELLY AND MAYBE PUT A HOLE RIGHT THROUGH IT!! NEVER DO IT!!!!!!
