HOWEVER: if it is your first frog-I’d suggest getting either fire-bellied toads or a whites tree frog. They are great beginner frogs and they are super-wicked to watch. They’re relatively low-maintenance. I started with the fire-bellies and they’re really active (Note again: not cuddly pets or whatever, they are frogs and don’t like to be handled much). The White’s tree frogs are really mellow and really cute too! Do your research before you get them so you can provide the best home possible for the little guys-they still need a fair bit of set-up and care, even for beginner pets! Eg: can you get live food readily where you live, are they captive-bred or wild-caught (for the White’s), and it’s a good idea to create their environment (set up their tank) and have it running for a week or two before introducing your new pets...just to iron out any kinks etc. Good luck and enjoy! |

If you ask your local pet shop, they can order captive-bred whites tree frogs for you, easily. I would say make sure they are captive-bred, they are more likely to be healthy and will be less stressed in a captive environment. But, before you order ANY animals from anywhere, you should do online research (and lots of it) and take out every relevant book you can get your hands on at your library, and ensure that you have the knowledge to keep the animal successfully. And it’s also very important to locate a local veterinarian with experience with the type of frog you purchase. That knowledge and the veterinary resources will help you more than anything else. Good luck! |
