 Swimming with an anaconda.

Just thought you all might think this photo is fun. Don’t put anacondas in the swimming pool unless you are willing to get a work out.

 Swimming with an anaconda.

Not long, it was actually more of a matter of being close enough to her when she decided to climb out.

 Swimming with an anaconda.

The snake in the photo is roughly 7 ft long. Chlorine is a relatively safe chemical in small quantities. We put it in pools to keep them clean and free of more harmful bacteria. If you think about it, small children swim in chlorine treated water all the time, get it in their eyes and nose, and swallow quite a bit of it...and they are just fine afterward. On many occasions, frogs even survive swimming pools, that that is about as delicate of an animal as it come when you are talking about swimming with chemicals. They soak everything up through their skin.

Unlike small children, snakes are not going to drink water with an inappropriate level of chemicals unless it is life or death (like an extremely dehydrated animal).

I am not worried even a little bit about a 7 ft anaconda swimming in the pool. However, I do like to only allow this when the chlorine levels are lower. Not so much because I think it will actually be harmful when the level is a little high, but I just like to err on the light side of things.

Do I freak out and feel terrible when I pick up a frog and forget I have a little pit of bug spray on my hands? Yes I do, and I quickly try and get the frog to some fresh water.

Would I let this anaconda go for a swim in a pool treated with chlorine again? Absolutely, and certainly before I allowed her to swim in untreated water.

I hope that helps : )

Thanks for the info. I was thinking it would be a good way to kill off mites.
