Just a couple questions...
Anacondas. I am thinking about getting a male Yellow, and I was just curious about a couple of things. I want to get one from the Hamburg, PA reptile expo, what is a good price to look for? I have done alot of research on them so a few of these questions I think I know already, but I’d like to know what you guys think as well. Do male yellows tend to be pretty aggressive? What is there max size without power feeding? They are just as easy to pop as babies as other snakes correct? As I said, I think I know most of the answers, but my main question is price. At a reptile show, what is usually a good price on baby males? Thanks for any help |

If you should luck out and find a Hypo Yellow I’d expect a price of $600-800 depending on the breeder and sex of the snake. Yellows are no more aggressive than RTB’s, but have just as much potential to be as angsty as them too. I would say anything temperment-wise that applies to RTBs applies to yellows. It’s so dependent on the snake and on the type of treatment it gets. From the sound of it you know the tricks and methods to keep a fiesty neonate from becoming an handful as an adult. Frequent (and of course proper) handling, making sure to avoid the head. If you drop a shirt or something of yours in there as well it will help them get to know your scent. I would "guesstimate" that a male yellow would top out at 7 without powerfeeding. Popping them is no harder than for any other snake as babies. Good luck in PA finding one that suits you! Make sure to handle EVERY one that you are considering getting. You can tell more from 5 minutes of holding a snake than you could from 10 hours of watching it on its own! ~GNP |

So they pretty much have the same temperment as a RTB? I have heard alot of people saying how they tend to be on the aggressive side.... I haven’t had many aggressive RTB’s, but I know how people can be taking stuff a bit overboard and calling things aggressive if they strike at them one time. Thanks for all the info, I figured they would be a bit cheaper than that at a reptile expo, I see them on Kingsnake for that price, still not bad though. Thanks again |
