A 5x3x3 is quite large to start out with but if you fill it enough to make it feel secure then it should be ok. I hesitate on this because condas can stress easily so I would suggest *if possible* to start smaller. Again, if you dont mind the cleaning and can fill the tank with enough decor to make it feel tight and secure, then 5x3x3 is fine. A container this large would keep a male green happy for *almost* all of its life, depending on feeding. The base rule of thumb is a tank that is 1/2 the length of the snake, but many people up this to 2/3. I personally like the 2/3 rule simply because I’d rather provide a bit more than needed than provide a bit too little, but neither rule is a hard and fast "must do." A green of either sex would enjoy a tank this size for quite some time, and it would become abundantly clear as to when you would need to bump up to larger. A snake going from 8 to 10 feet isn’t something that just sneaks up on you! ~GNP |

Heck, you could go with 3x1.5x1.5 and have a very happy snake. ~GNP |
