I’m sorry but I cannot condone this as a means of selling a snake.

With wonderful resources like Kingsnake.com out there, I would have suggested putting the ad up there.

I hope this snake ends up in good hands, and if you have to I suggest asking a close friend who lives near you to house it at your expense if possible, or at least find a reliable shelter for it.

Carp, what state do you live in?

Many states in the US do not require permits for anacondas, but conversely many do. Have you looked up your individual state laws or just assumed you’d need a permit since its fairly common?

Might be able to save yourself some paper work!

Carb, mind providing a picture of your license to own/sell exotic snakes, since Carp has let us know its needed to own in FL.

Sorry to hear FL is so restrictive by the way Carp! Come to VA! Anything and everything goes lol!

Unacceptable, unacceptable, unacceptable! I am sorry but size/maturity regardless no 13 year old can properly own and raise an anaconda without parental help and support.

If you didn’t have a liscence you should never have bought the snake in the first place!
If you didn’t have your parents support you should never have bought the snake in the first place!

THINK OF THE ANIMALS BEFORE YOU SPONTANEOUSLY SPEND ON THEM!

/rant over.

On a more productive note: I hope beyond hope that this snake finally gets a home it deserves.

I can’t stress my shock and dissappointment at the level of irresponsibility rampant in this situation.

My prayers go out to this beautiful snake.

Exactly!!! How come its not cool to own an anaconda anymore? Cuz you need a permit?
I see you said ur 13 can you even ship ( prolly not ) or are you selling it localy?
Maybe I could sell it for you maybe not...
Give me a pic of the real snake and I see if I can sell it for you...

As much as I know the snake would appreciate it Carp, I would not recommend selling something for someone else that you do not have in your possession personally.

yea i agree with GNP its not very responsible to get a pet much less one that gets in the 20 ft range and could easily eat anything smaller than a human or even a small human. you definitely should have tried a ball python or a red tail at most not a anaconda witch don’t exactly have good temperaments in the first place. and secondly in response to the whole license thing like VA MD doesn’t have any laws about snakes either venomous or size. but you should def let someone who knows what they are doing and can give that snake the proper care and husbandry.

Well all I can say is hope the snake is in good shape and good luck finding it a good home..
I saw you have some bids on your ebay thingy
( not the best place to sell a snake especially a Green Anaconda )

sorry to sound like an , but eBay!!! was that your idea our your parents. did your parents say you could get an anaconda, and if so, WTF were they thinking. i would try kingsnake.com, or some thing to that affect. how big is it, is it a male or female, dead or live food. hey pay attention to what these guys have to say weather you like it or not, they know what they are talking about. one more thing put your and your parents best interest aside, and watch out for the snake.

Well right now it could be a BIG problem just selling this snake!
First off selling on ebay someone may think its a fake snake or a joke and buy it and then that snake is screwd!, second he doesnt have a permit for it or to sell so if he does sell it and get caught he can get a fine!, next hes not certified to ship soo if he does sell it on kingsnake he has to sell it localy and again no permit to posses or sell soo he can be very screwd plus if you sell to someone with out a permit even more trouble!
My best advise to give you is get a permit and keep the snake ( and take good care of it! ) or get the permit and then sell it...

ya, selling it could be a problem, but i don’t believe its the biggest problem at hand. i could care less if they had to give a way, as long as it went to some one that has the time and resources to take proper care of that snake. sorry to disagree but no, and i mean no 13 year old kid, can properly care for it.

A) He won’t get a permit. He’d be lucky to meet 1 of the specs needed, let alone all of them from the sounds of it
B) Even with parental help, to say the thirteen year old is raising it with parental assistance is an error. The parents are raising it and showing/learning with the child how to do it.
C) His BEST and probably ONLY option, is to wait till a Daytona/Tallahassee show comes around and hope he can GIVE IT AWAY to one of the BREEDERS present.

BREEDER NOT CIVILIAN/SHOPPER is who he should give it to at the show.

Thats a good 3rd option...
Maybe Ben Renick will be at the show this year contact him maybe he can give it a good home...
If not I dont know much more conda breeders other then kelly haller witch she might be their too but I would feel like an @$$ begging someone to take my snake and sell it or take care of it...

Often breeders will take in a snake simply to sell it right back for a profit.

With his new facility being built I’m not sure how much traveling Mr. Renick will be doing, but it’s a possibility. Usually top end breeders would not be the ones to take them in though seeing as they breed the time stock. You would want an up-and-coming breeder OR someone who deals in Anaconads from time to time but doesn’t breed them.

I dont think your allowed to sell live animals on ebay im pretty sure you sign that off on your user agreement so if they find out you could be in some trouble. Also right now if the wildlife feds in florida find out you own a annie with out a permit youll also be in trouble no matter how young you are. See people need to stop being cool and follow the rules be responsible and we wouldnt have to worry about these stupid laws concerning our pets.
