Yes That was a very messy clean up that was the first time anything like that had happened to me lol I gave her the rat and turned around to throw the cardboard away and turned back around and there was blood everywhere I have seen somewhere on the net a pic of a gtp that took a ft rat and the rat like exploded when it hit it. It like busted it was so nasty

i have seen two of my boas pop out the eyes of rats on the initial squeeze. my sav does it quite regularly when he bites down on the head of a rat. my water monitor does the opposite she sheers the head off in a bite and shake.

Nice pictures, Denial. If you heat a frozen prey item to much when thawing, they can and indeed do explode. Before I started getting frozen food in bulk, I would buy live, kill the bigger rats, and put smaller ones in the freezer for a day. At any rate, with the fuzzy sized rats, I would put them under a heat lamp until they were warm, a couple of times I let them under too long, and when the snake struck them...well...what a mess.

i think the f/t rats explode when you heat them up too fast. I used to take them out of the freezer and stick em in hot water for 30 min. They exploded like every other time. Now i put em in the fridge all day and them put in hot water for 5 min, no problems

my first boa only ate live. when it wrapped around the rat both eyes came out and one stuck to the glass of the cage.

Awesome pics denial. I fed my new male a large rat and he took it right out of my hand. It was crazy. I went to put it close to him while he was in the water and before I could let go he had shot out of the water and took it from me. Crazy stuff. You female is getting some good size to her. How big is she now?

shes still about 4 feet but she hasnt refused any food in a long time so Im hoping to get her really big this year if I dont have to sell her
