will they breed if they live in sand substrate.

NEVER use sand as a substrate. If accidentally ingested, it can cause impaction and death. In fact, never use ANY substrate that is indigestible. The best ones are organic potting soil (without Perlite or fertilizers) or organic compost. They are absorbant and digestible.
