 Anoles Breeding

I bought a male brown anole and a female green anole. The petshop said that they probably wont mate, but guess what? Now I’ve got no idea what to do when and if she has eggs. How many will she have? Can brown and green anoles breed sucessfuly? Thanks

can you tell me how old your brown and Green anole are and if they are at different ages then it is OK because they produce at different times so they will never be able to have babies together and some times if they are different species of anole then they some times breed successfully but depends on how old and if they are old enough to have babies in the first place [ if i was you i would go and see the vet. let me teach you something anole and any lizard females lay eggs and then and only then can they be fertilized by a male by laying over the eggs and injecting something called sperm and then he looks after them till they hatch. so if she lays eggs and they are both the same age as each other then just simply destroy the eggs.

I have a little question. My male Anole Fizz that I just got today started bobbing his head and showing his dewlap to Treela my female. Will he breed with her soon? Is that a sign that he likes her?

i would have to say that they could breed. they are both anoles and its not like breeding a vat and dog. she should lay about 10-12- eggs. she will lay about one every week. you should take the eggs and put them in a small plasic tank with small holes in the top for ventilation and use a very brethable soil to put the eggs in

70-75 is too low, you need them 85-88. My Female green anole (Anola) is gravid at the moment. Cant wait til monday when sheís due to lay her first egg! Her mate is called Estro.

i thought the females stored the sperm in them and had them fertilized then they lay them. i know they arent mammels and dont caryr the babys with them. so the males have to fertilize them after their layed. i couldve sworn i read somehting about the feales storing sperm.

You are right the females anoles will store the sperm inside them, some sites I found have said they can store the sperm for up to 8 months. I personally canít see the sperm lasting that long, but you are right the male does not fertilize the egg after the female lays it.

hello,
Im gald to say that your anoles will mate! And they will lay up to 12 eggs tops.
Your babys will need lots of care and require a damp tank a human heating pad for the botom of the tank and the tempeture should be above 80F but lower than 86F. (ask your loacal petstore for the right floring)But i suggest you dont keep them sell them or give them to the petstore because careing for baby anoles isent like picking flower itís a hand full. So be carefull what your deling with and good luck!

The eggs will hatch in 35-40 days at about 85 degrees. If the temperature is lower, it will take a week or so longer. If you choose, you can leave the eggs in the enclosure with the parents but the parents may eat them. Once the hatchlings reach about two weeks in age, they will be big enough that only the largest males will be able to eat them.

A brown anole and a green anole can mate, but only unsuccessfully. Anyone who has told you different was completely wrong. The female may lay eggs, but it is best to ignore them, they will not be fertile. Let me warn you, everytime someone brings this up, there is a big argument over it. Trust Atrax, Meee, and only a few other sources. If you read through this forum and through the Anole forum, you will likely be able to find out who the viable sources are. Iíd like to consider myself one, however I am still young and most of my info comes from Atrax and Meee, both who are well experienced with anoles.

Iíve got a male Green anole and 2 female bahama anoles, are they able to mate? Because my male was bobbing his head and showing his dewlap after I introduced him to the girls and they crawled over to him and they all had a staring contest. Are they able to breed?

Yes that usually means that they are going to breed. if they do breed make sure you give the female lots of calcium so she doesn’t get mellabolic bone disease

Hey. My name’s Chris. I am 17 and I have been breeding these little guys for over three years. Alot of pet stores will tell you it is impossible for the green and brown (Bahama) anoles to interbreed. I happen to know by experience that is untrue. I have succesfully bre them up 3 times. Most of my anoles are Brown, But I have bred some that were a mixxed breed of brown and white. So, Yes, It is possible. Not common, But possible. I have done it. So, Hope this helps.

too bad they cant interbreed. They can and will mate(green & brown) but they arent closely related enought to produce offspring. And what are you talking about "white". Dont believe it it is untrue
