Congrats on the new hatchling! I hope you can get a new home for it soon, because keeping it in with the parents can be deathly for the little hatchling, which I can see that you are already well aware of. Anoles are not motherly or fatherly at all, yet some people falsely believe that the anoles somehow "know" its theirs and will take care of it. FALSE!! Anoles are by nature Solitary animals since birth, and once the egg is laid the baby is supposed to fend for itself, and be wary of other anoles and other predators that haunt its world, until it too reaches adulthood, if it manages to make it that far.

I have a young baby anole that will be 4 months old on the 8th (Saturday). I can show ya the pics of him if you want. You can usually spot the postanal scales with a magnifying glass or with very sharp vision right after hatching to tell if it is a male or a female. His name is Louie, and I have him in a separate 16 gallon tank at the moment. He is happy, healthy, and living life! He has grown quite a bit since he hatched, but he still has QUITE a ways to go to even reach the size of the adult females!!!

Here are pics of him taken last month (February 2008), when he was only a little over 3 months old.

And pics of him 2 days after hatching on November 8, 2007 (pics taken on Nov. 10th, 2007):

 New baby

Aww cute pics. I had 2 more hatch out 1 last night and 1 this morning. As for there homes I have plenty of tanks for them a friend of mine owned a small pet store until a big chain store moved in down the road a few years ago and run him out of business any way I bought alot of his old stuff and about 15 tanks 40 to 100 gallon off of him so I got room. I use to be into snakes I had 27 at 1 time that had from a few mothers and 3 fathers I had built there tanks-cages one tank-cage I built was 14’ft long 5’ft wide 2 1/2 high stand then went 5 1/2 ft up all most to the ceiling with lights on top and sliding glass doors it was awesome but I was stupid 1 day and 1 of my very large female Burmese pythons she was about ready to shed and I was half way inside the tank offering her her food (((witch that was the first and last time I ever fed them in there tank)))when she missed her food and grabbed me by both of my hands I was stuck and in trouble luckily I never messed with the big snakes unless some 1 was there with me after alot of stitches (and now scars) I sold them all cuz when my youngest girl was Born I had seen what they could do an the true power so after 16 years of having snakes I sold them all BUT I do miss them alot by the way that big tank I built sold for $700 alone and the man bought 7 of the snakes with the tank believe it or not for his wife..((((AND IT WAS MY FAULT)))) that she attacked me I was careless just wanted to stress that!!!Any way we have 6 kids now and they all wanted something besides there cats an dogs and rabbits and other farm animals soooo we started into the lizards about 8 years ago and just got into the anoles about a year ago but I have to say out of 13 lizards yep I said 13 different kinds of lizards we have I think I like the 8 anoles the best easy to feed and breed and clean and fun to watch with out any of the pain of getting tail slapped or bit by the nile or the savanna monitors I love em all but the anoles are A#1 hands down my fav.#2 our bearded dragon (buddy) is a CLOSE 2nd though..ill try an post a few more pics. of the new babies tonight after work have a gr8 resta the day..

Aww, well then congrats on the (SEVERAL) new arrivals!! That is just so adorable! My little one seems to be more lethargic lately and just overall lazy. I am definately worried, yet don’t have the kinda money to bring it to a vet, nor is there a herp vet around here anyway. Plus he is so tiny I don’t think they’d be able to treat him even if I had the money for it. I will keep an eye on him, his eating and drinking habits, his behavior, and see what I can do. He may be malnourished or be dehydrated. In fact I never see him licking the droplets off of the leaves in his home whenever I mist, so I am particularly concerned.
