Anole incubator So, I wanted to set up and incubator for my green anole eggs. I started out with a glass tray from an old microwave . On top of that I put a dutch oven metal pan with lid , with and under tank heater stuck to the bottom of the pan. I put vermiculite 12:1 with water over the bottom of the inside of the pan and then on top of that I put the egg cups with the vermiculite in them and lids with air holes. I put the lid on the dutch oven and the temp probe inside . the temp was perfect all weekend but the cups were full of condensation continually i had to take the lids off. So i decided I needed a glass pan that I could see thru in case an egg hatched. So I got out a large glass casserole dish with lid and used the same set up . The egg cups are too tall for that dish so I just placed the eggs in the vermiculite in the dish and put the lid on. I’m working on regulating the temp to 82- 85 but I’m still getting alot on condensation on the casserole lid. I’m afraid to dry the vermiculite too much do you all think that the condensation is going to be a problem? I hate to leave the lid ajar in case someone hatches. Do you think this will work as an incubator or is there some way for me to improve this ?

Anole incubator Get a large deli dish with a clear top. Use a regular light bulb for heat. Check on the humidity and temperature daily and for hatchlings. It is not overly complicated.

Anole incubator The wattage and distance will be determine by the temperature in the container. You will have to adjust both until the temperature is correct.

Anole incubator one question, I did what you said and have a deli container ( about 32oz) filled with vermiculite mixed about 13:1 with water. Air holes in top and a few around the sides. My light bulb is above and im regulating the temp to low to mid 80s. 2 eggs with just a little vermiculite over them. There is condensation on the sides of the container . Is this all right? The vermiculite is about 3/4 full in the container. I dont want the eggs to mold and I also dont want them to dry out. How do I regulate humidity? Is the condensation normal and right?

Anole incubator You might consider cutting out an 1" hole and hot-gluing some screen to cover it.
