 Anole eggs

Well out of 6 anole eggs , 1 hatched the rest either molded or shriveled up. When cut open they died at different stages but none really recognizable as a lizard. I guess I will have better luck if I dont touch them. So that was my desision and as I was catching a stray meal worm I accidently bumped an egg! I really wanted the baby to have a friend it seems so lonely it s 4 weeks old and so cute. I dont know if male or female.

Anoles are basically solitary except during breeding season. Whenever they encounter each other in the wild, a confrontation and conflict results.

Yes. A colony (loose term) is set up with a male-controlled territory. Within that are 2-6 females who each have their own territory. The females will defend their territory against other females but will defer to a male. Males typically defend their territory from other males to secure breeding rights to the females it contains. Male-to-male conflicts can be quite violent and they will even fight to the death. Females are a bit more sedate but nevertheless, they will chase each other around to establish a "pecking order" with the strongest female getting the best territory in regards to resources.

So today I found a new baby in the cage with the adult anoles! What a surprise! I caught it and put it in a smaller cage with its 5 week old sibling. So cute and teeny. The 5 week old looks alittle stocky its getting too big for fruit flies and not big enough for crickets .I cant find pin heads around here.
