Thanks to everyone - Newbie
I’ve chosen to post this on the anole site as this is where I’ve gotten the most advise from. I just wanted to extent my thanks to many people on this forum that have given me the know how to turn my 108 gallon tank into a beautiful, thriving terrarium. I’ve been into aquatics most of my life and have grown tired of it. My husband suggested to get reptiles.......I started with a ton of research and have used my aquatic knowledge to make a pond at one end with a fountain and all the greenary, moss and wood to please any tropical friends. I started with one green anole & 2x green tree frogs. A bit boring so I found some longtailed grass lizards (finding out that they are compatible). I figured they are male and female (the male is "stronger" colored black/white and has white spots and the female is "weaker" colored, mostly brown/white) I know that she was pregnant because of the size of her mid section (which "disappeared a few days ago) and with the advise from reading this forum, watched her and did discover a cluster of about 7 eggs. I used a spoon and took the dirt and the eggs, not disturbing them and put them in a critter cage with the same damp dirt and more moss. I’ve left it in the tank this way so that they still have the same enviroment. I will be expecting more as yesterday myself and the kids witnessed him impregnating her. Quite cool! I’ve also gotten 2 little girlfriends for my anole that he has accepted and I’m now just waiting to see what happens.........I find it so relaxing and have spend alot of time just sitting and watching their interaction and behavior. Thanks again and I’ll keep reading!

Well, I’m still using the custom light strip from the tank and it hold 4 36 inch florescents. I’ve got 2 tropical uv and 2 daylight uv. It’s just like daylight in there. I’ve set it up on a timer so it runs with the sun outside...I’ve also got a 150 watt heat lamp on one end (opposite of the pond) which I’ve only have to turn on a few times as it’s been so hot here the temp stays at around 80 on it’s own. I do have a question about the eggs, I noticed (when I found them) that 2 have a crack and I can see the yolk. Should I remove these to prevent any rotting? Or should I just leave them alone?

... i envy your tank setup so much i hate you.... I dunno aobut the eggs, though... if you can see the yolk, i can almost garuntee that they’ll not live... I persoanlly think your best bet is to get rid f them IF they shows signs of rotting or molding

I was the manager of an aquatic specialty store (before my second child) and if you bought the tank by itself the cost was about $200 Canadian. I set up this tank and system for a regular customer, stand w/ matching top and all the necessities. After a year, he actually went smaller and I scooped the whole setup for $900 (cost him about $3000).....We’ve had it for about 4 years now. I don’t think I would’ve spent the money on it to start a terrarium at least until I was "seasoned" but since we had it..........
