New to Anoles.. and need help
Ok, I am hoping someone will help me. I have 2 green anoles in a 20 gallon tank. I have subtrate in there, limbs for climbing, a rock, a hidey, I also have a 30 watt full spectrum daylight heat lamp at one end of the tank, I mist the tank 2 to 3 times a day, also give crickets with the vitmin powder on them. I have been putting about a dozen crickets in there at one time. (there is a reason) and when I would put say maybe 3 or 4 in at one time..... they crickets would hide in subtrate or whatever and the anoles would not eat them plus they wound up in the water dish or dead. So a friend that runs a pet store told me to put a toad in there to eat the crickets. Well, my 12 year old son thought that was cool. But the problem I am having is my anoles do not turn green only at night.. the rest of the time they are brown. I know that by being brown.. they are stressed.... (they did not turn green when the toads were NOT in there) these are just common toads. I did not get any of these (anoles or toads) at a pet store. Son caught them in our back yard. I have tried to do everything i can think of to help the anoles turn green. Any suggestions? I am open for any and all suggestions on getting my anoles ’less stressed?’ What size crickets should I be feeding them?????? Please help.. my son does not want to take the toads out, but i am afraid i might better. He thinks they are cool. Thanks...... for any and all help.

New to Anoles.. and need help the anoles just might need time to get used to the toad.. or if the toad’s larger than them, they might be afraid of being eaten... also, the anoles won’t drink out of a water-dish anyway, but with the taod, i guess you have to leave it in.... anyway, what i was trying to say was tat if you used like, top-soil as substrate, you could pack it down so that the crickets couldn’t get in it, and remove the water-dish so they wouldn’t drown, but if the taods working well, more power to ya’.... also, don’t ever let any uneaten crickets get away, because if they start bredding inside the tank, then the anoles could get coccidia

New to Anoles.. and need help
Hey I’m not really sure how to post my own messages things.. but I need some help on understanding different things about anoles. I have two Green anoles. I believe ones a male and the others a female. The male is bigger and has a thing underneath his head and then the female is smaller and thats about all i can tell. Am i guessing right as to which sex they are? Heres my next question.. how can i tell if their mating? and if they have already mated how can i tell if my females preg.? Will she look any different? or act any different? How will i know when she’s laid her eggs? and what if she does lay them and i cant find them? Where should i look for them? When she first lays the eggs do they actually look like eggs? or do they have some sort of stuff on them? How can i really tell? Then if I see the eggs what do i do next to help them hatch? Whill they mate at anytime of the year or just certain times? If so what happens if they look like their mating outside of thier mating months/season? Will they still lay the eggs? Please help me I have no clue about them other then how they look and female and male!
