 When Anole Rubs His Mouth?

I just got a new anole a few days ago. He is a very healthy-looking fellow and about 5-6 inches long. I am trying to take good care of him, but there is no pet shop in my town. The nearest pet shop is an hour and 1/2 long walk away, and that’s a long way to walk just to feed him each day. It is for this reason that I have been catching small-sized crickets from the woods behind my apartment building. I am concerned about pesticides though. This is a HUD apartment complex, and I’m sure they spray pesticides here, but do you think the bugs I catch from behind the property in the woods are poisoned? I’m not sure how far the pesticide travels. I’ve also noticed that right after eating a cricket, my anole will rub the full length of his mouth line back and forth (both sides of his jaw) on his branch/log. I’m not sure why he does that. Is this a sign that he has an irritation, maybe due to pesticides? Just how deadly are pesticides to my anole anyhow? Thanks in advance.

My anoles do the same thing... to them rubbing their mouth on the
bark is like us using a napkin...
