Keeping humidy up? Sexing an anole can be done by the following: Male anoles are larger than females. They have a longer jaw line, larger head, and do have the hemipenes that is visible at the vent. Both have a dewlap, but the male’s is larger and he will show it much more often than the female.Females have the shorter jaw line, smaller head and while both my have a white stripe down the spine when young, the male usually loses his while the female retains it. As far as breeding anoles. You have to munipulate the seasons change. For example: For about a month slowly decrease the temp and cut back the food source. Once the temp is about 65-75 during the daylight hours keep it thier for about a month. After which you spike the temp back up to 85-90 and overwhelm them with food, thus simulating seasons change and munipulating them into breeding. I am not sure if this is a text book example of what to do but i can tell you that i have never had a problem getting my anoles to breed. Once the eggs are laid you nned to remove them from the tank where the adults are, taking care not to turn them. Place the eggs in another tank or incubator in the same position that you found them. You need to have them in a well ventilated tank or incubator. The substrate must be kept moist but not wet, and temperatures should be around 85F, for about 40 days. Baby anoles are tiny and must not be kept with adults. Adults may or may not eat them, but the babies will refuse to eat because the adults intimidate them. Pinhead crickets, gut-loaded and dusted are needed; they eat very soon after hatching.
