First how do you thing anoles survive in the wild? They will burrow thier heads into the moss to find the crickets. But if you want to change substrates you can use repti-bark. Just dont use sand.

how many times do i have to tell you people about soil. it doesn’t hide crickets like moss does, it doesnt harm anoles like repti bark, it isnt toxic like reptibark , it looks a lot better and is easier to clean than cage carpet. if you dont beleive me look at the care sheets for anoles @ kingsnake.com. my oldest anoles is getting on 6, its what they live in in the wild, and its tres cheap. stop wasting your money!

Heres the best thing to do with your anoles as far as substrate goes.
Try different ones and find one that you like and your anoles like. You can ask this question to 10 different people and never get the same answer.
People are going to tell you to go with what they are using. You need to find out for yourself.

I don’t like soil either it turns to mud when it gets wet and it’s messy, I use eco earth from zoo med. it’s a hard block that you soak in water, it looks like soil when it’s moist but it doesn’t muddy up water and it brushes off clothes hands and glass.
