How to sex anoles: The female is smaller, has a light stripe running down the back, males have larger heads in contrast to their bodies, males have a large and flambouyant dewlap (females have them but they are smaller and less colorful) and males flash theirs alot more.

Not all females have the stripe and some males have stripes also. So that is not a sure fire way of telling male from female.You can flip the anole over and look to see if you can find 2 oversized scales on their underside near their anus. If there is it’s a male if not it’s female. Dysturbed
